MURAI, Jun
Dean/Professor

Dean of the Graduate School of Media and Governance
Former Dean of the Faculty of Environment and Information Studies

Professor Jun Murai’s research focus is on global computer networking and communication. He is recognized as a pioneer for his contributions to the global internet and is known as the “Father of the Internet” in Japan, and as the “Internet Samurai” overseas. He developed the Japan University UNIX Network (JUNET), Japan’s first inter-university computer network. He serves as the Founder of the WIDE Project, and chair of the AI3 Project and SOI Asia Project. Professor Murai has received numerous awards worldwide, and was inducted into the Internet Hall of Fame in 2013. He is an Advisory Member of the Strategic Headquarters for the Promotion of an Advanced Information and Telecommunications Network Society (IT Strategic Headquarters), chairs and serves on many other governmental committees, and is active in numerous international scientific associations. He served as Vice President of Keio University from 2005 to 2009, and as Executive Director of Keio Research Institute at SFC from 1999 to 2005. He holds a Ph.D. in computer science from Keio University.

KAWAZOE, Takeshi
Professor, Dean of the Faculty of Policy Management

Professor Takeshi Kawazoe’s research topics include classical Fourier analysis and modern wavelet analysis, with a focus on harmonic analysis of Lie groups, hypergroups, and non-homogenous spaces. He is the author of many Japanese-language publications Calculus I, Calculus II, and Mathematical Science and Society. Dean Kawazoe earned a Ph.D. in Science from the University of Tokyo, and also completed all coursework toward a Ph.D. at the Graduate School of Engineering at Keio University. He also holds an M.S. from the Graduate School of Engineering at Keio University, and a B.E. from the Faculty of Engineering at Keio University. He served as the headmaster of Keio Shonan Fujisawa Junior and Senior High School from 2011 to September 2013.

HAMADA, Yoko
Professor, Dean of the Faculty of Environment and Information Studies

Professor Yoko Hamada’s research focus is on Psychiatry, Psychoanalysis, Infant Mental Health, and School Mental Health. She graduated from the Keio University School of Medicine in 1981, and received her Doctor of Medical Science in 1991. Previously, she was a research associate in the Department of Neuropsychiatry at Keio University, and was an assistant professor at the Seitoku University Health Center. She has published numerous works on topics such as mothers’ recognition of infant’s emotions and psychoanalytic psychotherapy of women.
